The Department boasts a history and tradition of roughly 50 years, if we include the period when it was part of the College of Literature. We have produced superior graduates who have entered educational institutions pertaining to child education, primary schools, junior high schools and high schools. However, the science of education is originally not only about nurturing instructors of education, but also a comprehensive study of "human beings" where we research how human beings grow, develop and mature throughout their lives, starting from birth. Human beings learn throughout their entire lives, not only through school education, but also by meeting with various types of people. The Department has established five programs: Human Development, Comparative Education and Sociology of Human Development, School Education, Clinical Studies of Education, and Media and Communication Studies. Through these programs, students research various issues (including modern-day issues) such as self-realization, human relationships, international understanding, and informatization. Students are asked to question the true nature of education and what the ideal form of education is. Not only do they expand their thinking, but they also acquire knowledge and skills that are useful in society as they aim to realize a society that is rich in spiritual quality.
